ABOUT DT DOBIE:

Colonel David Dobie, a veteran of World War 2, started D.T Dobie in 1949. From humble beginnings, the company started out with the Mercedes-Benz franchise for East Africa which included both passenger and heavy commercial vehicles.

  • In 1964, the organization was awarded the sole franchise distributorship of Nissan passenger and light commercial vehicles in Kenya.
  • The company was in the year 2000 acquired by CFAO, a French company that was then a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Pinault Printemps-Redoute (PPR) group. In 2012 Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) became the majority shareholder of CFAO after acquiring 97.81 %.
  • In 2001 they were awarded the Jeep franchise for Kenya.
  • In 2014 they were appointed the franchise dealers for VW passenger and light commercial vehicles.

NCBA AND DT DOBIE SIGN A PARTNERSHIP TO PROMOTE SALE OF VEHICLES

June 2021: NCBA Bank has signed a six months’ partnership with DT Dobie to jointly promote the sale of Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen brands of vehicles. Under the partnership, NCBA will provide up to 95% financing with up to six years loan repayment period. The partnership will also offer a discounted loan-processing fee at 2% for new customers and 1% for existing customers. The interest rate will be at 13% on reducing balance basis.

Additionally, NCBA Insurance will provide an all-inclusive insurance rate of 3.25% for the Mercedes Benz School bus. Customers purchasing Personal vehicles will enjoy an all-inclusive insurance rate of 3.5%.

DT DOBIE PARTNERS WITH CO-OPERATIVE BANK TO PROMOTE SALE AND LEASE OF BUSES

December 2020: DT Dobie and Co-operative Bank enter a Kes 1B financing partnership that enables customers to purchase or lease Mercedes-Benz buses. The agreement will benefit institutions such as schools, churches, universities and fleet owners wishing to acquire more units. Learning institutions will enjoy 95 percent for asset financing and 100 percent for leasing for up to 60 months, and the offer is available to Co-operative Bank customers and non-customers

During the launch of the partnership at DT Dobie offices, Mr. Mathew Mbuko the DT Dobie Project Manager for Mercedes-Benz Buses explained that 150 units of Mercedes-Benz MB 917 and the bigger Mercedes-Benz MB 1730 buses are available for customers to buy or lease. Schools and transport companies will have the option to decide the configuration of buses that suit them ranging from 37 seats to the ultra-luxury coaches.

DT DOBIE UNVEILS NEW SHOWROOM

June 2020: DT Dobie officially unveiled their new showroom on Uhuru Highway that houses both Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen brands. The new beautifully furnished premises brings DT Dobie’s brands to a more accessible location on the main highway. The ceremony was graced by members of the press as well as invited guests.

The venue also marked the launch of the new locally-assembled Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. The new Tiguan Allspace adds on the already available regular Tiguan but adds on the versatility of 7 seats compared to the 5 of the regular model.

The new showroom is now open to the public and houses various Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen models including the new Allspace.
