Business Ireland Kenya is led by a dedicated and dynamic leadership team, each playing a pivotal role in driving the organization’s mission forward.

At the helm is our Chairman, Declan Galvin, whose strategic vision and leadership guide our efforts to strengthen business ties between Ireland and Kenya. Supporting the Chairman with these efforts is our Vice Chair, Douglas Nyamori.

Our Secretary, Katherine Muldoon, ensures smooth operations and effective communication within the organisation, while our Treasurer, Denis Etienne, oversees financial management with a focus on sustainability and growth. Assisting in these roles is our Assistant Treasurer, Mick Murphy, who helps manage financial planning and strategy.

The leadership team is further strengthened by three At-Large Members—George Mealy, Lilian Wood, and Samuel Kisuu—each contributing their expertise to help shape our strategic direction and foster business opportunities across both regions.

Together, this team is dedicated to advancing Business Ireland Kenya’s mission and creating impactful collaborations.

Declan Galvin

Douglas Nyamori – Vice Chair

Mr. Douglas Nyamori is a Kenyan National currently serving as the Regional Manager for Intertek International Limited – GTS in East Africa.

With over 20 years experience in conformity assessment industry, Mr. Nyamori has been involved in the implementation of various programmes in the region. These are designed to facilitate trade assisting organisations in compliance to standards and thus participating in securing the international supply chain.  He has been involved in the design of innovative solutions that provide Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification (ATIC) solutions to customers around the world.

Douglas is a graduate of Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of Nairobi and is also a certified leadership and team coach.

Katherine Muldoon – Secretary

Katherine was admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales in 2016 and has built a distinguished career in High Net Worth and International Private Client, Dispute Resolution and Litigation.  

She has been instructed in complex Financial Remedies matters, Contested Adoption, Assisted Reproduction (including Posthumous Conception), Child Abduction, Worldwide Freezing Orders, Medical Negligence, Trusts, Wills & Estate Litigation. 

With experience handling intricate cross-border jurisdictional issues and all manner of private client matters, Katherine also advises on international wealth and corporate structures. 

She is a strong advocate, having obtained Higher Rights of Audience in Civil Litigation been called to the Bar of England & Wales. She remains a (non-practising) Barrister and a member of Middle Temple. Additionally, she was called to the Cayman Islands Bar in 2019. 

Katherine is an Accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator and previously served as Managing Partner of Muldoon & Partners LLP from 2020, handling both Civil and Commercial matters. Her passion for Commercial Dispute Resolution and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) led her to complete a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration at Oxford. She is now a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb). 

A sought-after speaker, Katherine frequently spears on panels and presents at international conferences. She also writes, with numerous published articles and has made live appearances on both TV and radio discussing legal issues. 

Beyond her legal practice, Katherine is deeply committed to philanthropy. She regularly engages in charitable work and currently serves on the Board of Glad’s House, a registered NGO supporting vulnerable children and young people. 

She is also dedicated to advocating for women’s issues, working to support gender equality and empowerment through both her professional practice and volunteer initiatives. Where appropriate, she undertakes pro bono work to assist those in need, ensuring access to justice for individuals facing legal challenges without the means to afford representation.

Denis Etienne – Treasurer

Denis works for DTOS Ltd – a subsidiary of the IBL group. He heads the Kenyan operations since 2018.

A fellow of the ACCA, he has more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry in Mauritius, UK and Kenya

Mick Murphy – Assistant Treasurer

Mick Murphy is a partner with Viva Africa Consulting specialising in cross-border investment and the restructuring of multi-national groups operating in East and Central Africa.
